It was announced on Saturday that Parker senior Sterling Hayes was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune's 1st team All-Section team.
Hayes, who was earlier named as the Coastal League player of the year, made the 1st team as an infielder. He finished this season as the Lancers leader in batting average, hitting .341, with 7 doubles and 11 RBIs.
When he wasn't playing shortstop for the Lancers, he was the team's ace on the mound, finishing his senior season with an overall record of 7-2, and ERA of 0.88, and 72 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Hayes was also named the Lancers most valuable player.
He will be continuing his baseball career at Vanderbilt University next year.by Matt Morrison
