Boys Basketball Advances to Division 2 Title Game

The Boys Basketball team has advanced to the CIF San Diego Section Division 2 Championship game, after defeating Otay Ranch High School last night by a final of 76-74. The win earns the Lancers a spot in the Division 2 Finals on Saturday, March 3rd. They will take on the #2 seeded Christian High Patriots, with the game starting at 5:00 pm.

Head Coach Jim Tomey was extremely proud of his team after the game, stating "It's always great when you're able to play your best as a team at the end of the season. We battled a number of injuries through the first part of the season, but since our guys have come back, we have really gelled as a team."

Despite falling behind by 10 points early in the 3rd quarter, the Lancers used a 20-5 run over the next several minutes and took a 5 point lead into the 4th, and were then able to hold on and earn the victory.

Junior forward Matt Bender led the Lancers, posting a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Max Guinn pitched in 17 points of his own. Sophomore point guard Kimo Ferrari was all over the floor, scoring 12 points to go along with 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.

The Lancers have been road warriors throughout their playoff run, winning 3 straight games away from home, as they have defeated the #1, #5, and #8 seeds on their way to the championship game.
